NiCrAlY and NiCoCrAlY alloys are thermal spray coating materials known for their excellent resistance to oxidation and hot corrosion. Coatings of these materials are used as adhesive coatings for ceramic surface coatings or alone for high temperature corrosion resistance. Adding yttrium improves the adhesion of this oxide layer. The presence of cobalt in NiCoCrAlY alloys improves coating ductility and resistance to hot corrosion
